Description:
Do you experience challenges with focus and struggle with time and task management? Do you struggle with emotional hypersensitivity or frustration tolerance? Do you find it hard to follow through on tasks or commitments, or to be reliable and consistent?

If so, you are not alone. Many people experience significant daily challenges with conditions related to executive functioning. These difficulties are often associated with ADHD, and may be exacerbated by our complex, fast-paced, high-tech lives. Such conditions often leave people with a sense of self-doubt, shame, or unworthiness. The good news is that research on mindfulness and compassion-based practices suggests that, with appropriate skills and supports, it is possible to understand and function more effectively with care and wisdom.

In this daylong, we’ll explore how these challenges interrupt daily functioning, and how mindfulness, forgiveness, and self-compassion practices can be used to meet ADHD-related difficulties with greater clarity and kindness.

Continuing Education (CE) credit available:
This introductory-level program offers 5 Continuing Education (CE) credits/contact hours for $50.

This program is applicable for licensed and license-eligible mental health and health care professionals, including psychologists, social workers (LCSW, LSW), counselors (LPC, LCPC, LMHC), marriage and family therapists, nurses (RN, NP), chiropractors, and other health care professionals, seeking education in mindfulness and self-compassion approaches to ADHD and executive functioning challenges. Visit our Continuing Education information page for provider details, and to determine if your association or board will accept credits offered by Spirit Rock.

This program is relevant for healthcare providers who support patients with ADHD and related executive functioning challenges, as well as clinicians who notice these patterns in themselves. It examines how executive functioning difficulties affect daily functioning and emotional regulation, and how self-judgment and shame can compound these challenges. Participants will practice mindfulness skills for recognizing distraction, frustration, and overwhelm, along with self-compassion and forgiveness practices for responding to ADHD-related difficulties. These tools can deepen clinical understanding and support clinician well-being.

Learning Objectives for participating health care professionals-
At the end of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Identify three ways ADHD-related executive functioning challenges can affect daily functioning and emotional regulation.
  • Describe how self-judgment and shame can compound ADHD-related difficulties.
  • Demonstrate a mindfulness practice for recognizing distraction, frustration, or overwhelm.
  • Apply a self-compassion or forgiveness practice to an ADHD-related challenge using a concrete example.

Attendance policy for CE participants:

  • Full, live attendance is required. Incomplete attendance nullifies CE eligibility, as board regulations do not permit partial credit for partial attendance.
  • Sign in and out at the CE table, on time.
  • Submit your professional information within one week of receiving the link. This link will be emailed within 2 business days after the program to all participants who met the attendance requirements.
  • Certificates are issued only to those who meet the attendance requirements—without exception—to maintain compliance with our provider licenses and ensure the continuation of future CE programs.

Please note:

  • Visit our Continuing Education information page for complete provider details and additional CE information, including attendance requirements and our cancellation and grievance policies.
