Program to be held on the land and online!
Description:
Deep rest states are powerful for healing and resetting our nervous systems, helping to direct us towards ease and equanimity. For most of us, deep rest states are missing from our lives. During our time together, we will have the opportunity to deepen our knowledge of the science, art, and practice of deep rest and stress reduction. We will explore the science behind the restorative effects of meditation and mind/body practices. We will also experience deep rest states using various types of breathing practices, sensory immersion, and restorative yoga, with live contemplative music from Nichol Joy Chase.

This program is relevant to health care providers as it equips them with an understanding of the psychological and physiological mechanisms that underpin deep rest states, essential for patient care in managing chronic stress. By identifying the ideal social, environmental, and psychological conditions for promoting deep rest, providers can better support patients in creating conducive settings for healing. Additionally, distinguishing between rejuvenation from positive stress and restoration from deep rest states allows providers to implement strategies that enhance overall well-being and longevity, fostering a holistic approach to health.
Learning Objectives for participating health care professionals-
At the end of the program you will be better able to:
- Describe the psychological and physiological mechanisms underlying deep rest state;
- Define the different mind states and which require more cognitive load;
- Identify research-based practices that help to reduce stress and cognitive load;
- Distinguish between rejuvenation from positive stress and restoration from deep rest states, and explain how they work together for optimal longevity.
