Description:
Many of us carry regrets about relationships, careers, missed chances, or paths we wish we hadn’t taken. Over time, these stories can become so weighty that they shape how we move through life—obscuring our capacity for presence and love. In this daylong, we’ll explore the patterns and heft of our regrets with the intention of transforming that which binds us into freedom. Through the heart practices of lovingkindness and forgiveness, we’ll meet our regrets with compassion and curiosity, gently untangling the mind of habits that may no longer serve us.
Drawing from Buddhist psychology and teachings, we’ll explore how mindfulness and heart-based practices can help soften these inner narratives and create more internal space for resilience and a greater capacity for joy. By turning towards our choices, our past, and ourselves with wisdom, clarity, and heartfulness, we can allow ourselves to remember that what remains is love.
Online Only: We are offering this program online via Zoom.
Sliding Scale: Our sliding scale options for this program include financial support for our teachers. Please consider paying at the highest rate that you can afford: your generosity supports the teachers as well as Spirit Rock and your fellow practitioners who need to pay less.

Teachings are appropriate for health care professionals as well as the general public. This program offers healthcare professionals clinically relevant strategies to address maladaptive regret, self-critical rumination, and emotional rigidity—factors commonly associated with mood disorders and psychological distress. Through the application of mindfulness and compassion-based interventions, participants will learn evidence-supported techniques that enhance emotion regulation, reduce self-blame, and foster psychological flexibility. These practices may be integrated into client sessions to promote recovery from trauma, build self-compassion, and improve well-being. Additionally, the program supports clinicians’ well-being by offering personal tools for reflection and self-care grounded in empirically supported methods.
Learning Objectives for participating health care professionals-
At the end of the program, you will be better able to:
- Differentiate between adaptive remorse and maladaptive regret using frameworks from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) and Buddhist-informed clinical models.
- Apply mindfulness-based interventions to reduce cognitive fusion with self-critical or ruminative thoughts in clinical contexts.
- Implement compassion-focused strategies such as loving-kindness and forgiveness practices to help clients reduce shame and promote emotional resilience.
- Incorporate evidence-based joy-enhancing practices to support clients in developing greater psychological flexibility and well-being.
