Description:
Our Dharma practice and our recovery program each rest on the foundation of intention and commitment. One day at a time and one breath at a time, we keep coming back to the present moment and to our collective wish to be free. This daylong retreat will focus on renewing our commitment and maintaining our program within a framework of practice. Through mindfulness meditations, lectures, interactive exercises, and personal reflection, we will seek fresh inspiration for a year of growth and well-being.

This program is applicable for licensed and license-eligible mental health and health care professionals, including psychologists, social workers (LCSW, LSW), counselors (LPC, LCPC, LMHC), marriage and family therapists, nurses (RN, NP), chiropractors, and other health care professionals, seeking education in mindfulness-based approaches to addiction recovery. Please review our Continuing Education information page for provider details, and to determine if your association or board will accept credits offered by Spirit Rock.
A growing body of research points to mindfulness as a valuable complement to 12-Step and other recovery frameworks, particularly in supporting emotion regulation and reducing relapse risk. This program offers providers experiential grounding in this approach — beyond just theory. Care providers will practice the same tools they can offer clients: non-judgmental awareness and present-moment focus for working with distressing emotions, and mindful speech and listening skills that can support therapeutic communication.
Learning Objectives for participating health care professionals-
At the end of the program, participants will be better able to:
- Describe the role of mindfulness practice in supporting a 12-Step recovery program.
- Identify the key components of mindfulness — including non-judgmental awareness and present-moment focus — as applied to addiction recovery.
- Describe and apply mindfulness practices to support individuals in working with distressing emotions.
- Describe the components of mindful speech and mindful listening in effective therapeutic communication.

- Full, live attendance is required. Incomplete attendance nullifies CE eligibility, as board regulations do not permit partial credit for partial attendance.
- Sign in and out at the CE table, on time.
- Submit your professional information within one week of receiving the link. This link will be emailed within 2 business days after the program to all participants who met the attendance requirements.
