Program to be held on the land and online!

Description:
Inner awareness is key to understanding and taking care of our mental and emotional landscapes. The awareness of sensations, breath, thoughts, and emotions all culminate in recognizing what is. By repeatedly observing each moment, we become sensitive to our internal needs through the language of the body, the movement of breath, the quiet whispering of the heart, and the changeable nature of the mind.

With practice, our capacity to understand how our environment, conversations, and stressors affect us grows until it becomes second nature. Through this deep inner knowing, we learn to use skillful means to respond to and take kind care of ourselves anytime and anywhere.

Sliding Scale: Our sliding scale options for this program include financial support for our teachers. Please consider paying at the highest rate that you can afford: your generosity supports teachers as well as Spirit Rock, staff, and your fellow practitioners.

Access to Recording

• A recording will be available for all participants (on-land & online) following the program in approximately 10 days. You will have ~90 days from the original program date to view the recording.

On-Land Attendees

• The on-land program will take place in the Community Meditation Center (CMC) in the Great Hall.
• Bring a water bottle. Lunch is not provided. We strongly encourage you to bring a “brown bag” lunch, especially if you will be attending back-to-back programs on this day as there isn’t time to go offsite for lunch and get back in time.
• Or, if you are only attending the afternoon program, we invite you to come early and picnic/”brown bag it” prior to the program. The gates will be open all day.
• This is NOT a residential retreat. Overnight accommodations are not provided.

Cancellation Policy for On-Land Day Programs:

• NO REFUNDS.
• Open Credit or Donation to Spirit Rock = cancel 2 or more business days prior to program (Pacific Time)
• No Open Credit = cancel less than 2 business days prior

Important Note for CEC participants: If you are interested in receiving continuing education credits (CECs), you must register and pay for CECs prior to the start of the program (no retroactive CECs will be given) and you must attend the entire program. Please review the CEC information below.

Continuing Education (CE) credit available:
This program offers 3 CE credits for $30 for psychologists, and California licensed MFTs, LCSWs, LEPs, LPCCs, nurses, and chiropractors. Please review our Continuing Education Credit information page to determine if your association or board will accept credits offered by Spirit Rock.****

Teachings are appropriate for health care professionals as well as the general public. Healthcare providers play a crucial role in supporting patients through illness, end-of-life care, and death. Through their own practice of befriending mortality in this workshop, healthcare providers can be more empowered to acknowledge and discuss the topic of death with their patients, helping them align their lives with their values, live more fully, and prepare fearlessly for the end, ultimately providing holistic care.

Learning Objectives for participating health care professionals-
At the end of the program you will be better able to:

• Describe the advantages of focusing on bodily sensations as a preliminary step to addressing cognitive processes, which includes reducing stress, enhancing emotional regulation, and preventing cognitive distortions;
• Describe the process and benefits of maintaining internal sensory awareness during interpersonal communication, leading to improved emotional intelligence, greater empathy, and more effective patient care in clinical settings.
