Program to be held on the land only

Description:
Everyone wants to be calm and peaceful. Restlessness and agitation can arise when the mind is unsettled, the heart is reactive, and our perception of the present moment is unclear. During this day together, we will explore ways of steadying the heart and mind so that calm in the present moment becomes more accessible, insight develops naturally, and the heart softens.

During this daylong, we will draw on the Four Foundations of Mindfulness—being mindful of and sensitive to our bodies—beginning with the sensations of breathing, and expanding to include other physical sensations. We will explore how to feel pleasure more fully without trying to make it last, and how to more easily accommodate unpleasant experiences without becoming overwhelmed or reactive. We will also practice recognizing and working with our emotions, while learning how to relate to our thoughts more kindly and skillfully rather than being so easily carried away by them.

Sliding Scale Rates: Our sliding scale options for this program include financial support for our teachers. Please consider paying at the highest rate that you can afford: your generosity supports teachers as well as Spirit Rock and your fellow practitioners who need to pay less.**

Please review our Continuing Education information page for provider details, and to determine if your association or board will accept credits offered by Spirit Rock.

Mindfulness practices that cultivate present-moment awareness have strong empirical support for improving emotional regulation, reducing automatic reactivity, and strengthening attentional stability—capacities essential for clinicians in demanding environments. This program offers healthcare professionals structured practices drawn from the Four Foundations of Mindfulness, including awareness of body sensations, feeling tone, emotions, and thought patterns. These skills can help clinicians meet internal and external challenges with greater steadiness and clarity, while fostering a more compassionate and attuned presence with patients and colleagues. Participants will explore practices that may be integrated into clinical interactions to support therapeutic communication, patient well-being, and their own resilience in the face of stress.

Learning Objectives for participating health care professionals:
At the end of the program, you will be better able to:

  • Describe and practice mindfulness of the body, including awareness of breathing and physical sensations, and explain how such practices can support emotional steadiness in clinical settings.
  • Utilize mindfulness of feeling tone (pleasant, unpleasant, neutral) to recognize early signs of reactivity and support more balanced responses.
  • Describe and practice mindfulness of emotions in ways that support recognizing emotional patterns and responding with greater clarity and stability.
  • Describe and practice mindfulness of thoughts to reduce automatic cognitive reactivity and cultivate a more skillful, compassionate relationship with thinking.

Continuing Education content level: Intermediate

Attendance policy for CE participants:

  • Full, live attendance is required. Incomplete attendance nullifies CE eligibility as board regulations prohibit partial credit for partial attendance.
  • Certificates are issued only to those who fulfill the complete attendance requirements—without exception—to maintain compliance with our provider licenses and ensure the continuation of future CE programs.
  • To ensure your attendance is recorded:

    • Stay logged in and engaged for the duration of the program.
