Description:
The Buddha asked his students to deepen in awareness of six kinds of experience: sights, sounds, tastes, aromas, body sensations, and mental experiences such as inner images, sounds, concepts, and our inner voice. These are simple momentary experiences in which we can become lost and enchanted, around which we might forever seek an unreachable sense of safety or contentment.
By becoming mindful of our breath and body, of the pleasant and unpleasant nature of these six experiences, and of their impermanent, ever-changing nature, we wake up from being lost in an exhausting dream. In learning to be mindful of these six sense doors, we discover a trustworthy peace and freedom.
