Description:
This day invites us to pause from the fast-paced rhythm of daily life and immerse ourselves in a sacred day of mindfulness and reflection. Rooted in interdependence, we will explore the deep, inseparable relationship between personal well-being and the health of the earth. Integrating the wisdom of the Dharma with the teachings of the biosphere, these practices foster a profound understanding of how all—humans, animals, plants, and the planet—are interconnected.

Our time together combines meditation, nature walks, group discussions, and creative reflection to help deepen our connection with the natural world and nurture our own sense of responsibility for its care. We will be guided to recognize the earth not as a separate being, but as a vibrant, interconnected web. We will offer practical tools to support us in feeling more deeply grounded, connected, and empowered to recognize ourselves as part of a living, intelligent earth.

Food Offering for Teachers and Potluck for all
To preserve and uplift this part of our lineage and tradition, we encourage you to bring food offerings to share with the teachers (and fellow participants) if you wish. Please bring only vegetarian food to share and please bring any serving utensils your dish requires. If your dish includes nuts, dairy, or gluten, please label your dishes. We will have labels and markers on the food offerings table for this purpose.

We will set up a buffet table and provide compostable plates/utensils. We request that folks bring all food in reusable containers that they can use to bring any leftovers home with them at the end of the event. All food must go home at the end of the day.

What to Bring:
Besides bringing food to offer, we will likely have some outdoor practice, so please consider bringing these items just in case:

  • Lunch and/or potluck item to share (see above); note: lunch is not provided by Spirit Rock
  • Water bottle
  • Closed-toe walking/hiking shoes
  • Clothing layers
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses, hat
  • Fragrance-free bug spray and tick spray

Our beautiful land is home to turkeys, deer, and lizards, as well as ticks, bees, wasps, and snakes, including rattlesnakes. Weather is variable and can be cool in the morning and warm up as the day progresses.
