The Four Buddhist Heart Practices (Brahmavihāras) (JB1C24)
James Baraz, MA
November 12 - December 3, 2024
Description:
As a complement to Insight (mindfulness) Meditation practice, The Four Buddhist Heart Practices (Brahmavihāras) is a 4-week live online course designed to open the heart. The brahmavihāras—classical Buddhist heart practices that include lovingkindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity—are all about our connection with ourselves, others, and the world around us. They connect the mind and heart so that our meditation practice and everyday mindfulness incorporate both clarity and kindness.
This course offers formal meditation instructions and talks on how to apply these practices in our lives. Each session builds on the previous ones as we learn the different ways the heart can open to ourselves, those close to us, those we have difficulty with, and all beings.
Online Only: We are offering this program online via Zoom.
Class dates are: November 12, November 19, November 26, December 3; all classes are held on Tuesdays from 6:00pm – 8:00pm US Pacific Time.
