Description:
During our brief time on this blue planet, the small and large stressors and traumas of our life build up and take their toll on our psyche. We start to grapple with the profound fact that everything is impermanent, ungraspable, and not fully knowable. We naturally turn inwards to find rejuvenation and healing in the Dharma. This is the time to draw from the deep well of the brahmavihāras or Heavenly Abodes of lovingkindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity.

These life-transforming practices can heal and open our heart, soothe our anxious mind, and calm our inner critic. In our daily life, as we nurture ourselves with love and kindness, we shift away from our habitual fight, flight, and freeze reactions and become our own best friend. In turn, this makes us more present for our friends, family and community with a greater sense of connection, ease and belonging.

Class dates are: April 11, April 18, April 25, May 2, May 9, May 16; all classes are held on Thursday from 5:00pm – 6:30pm US Pacific Time.

Online Only: We are offering this program online via Zoom for you to join us remotely.

Teachings are appropriate for health care professionals as well as the general public. Health care professionals will learn the cumulative impact of stressors and traumas on individuals’ mental well-being, and practices to support these impacts. By incorporating practices such as loving-kindness and compassion, health care professionals can help individuals navigate the impermanence and uncertainty inherent in life, promoting psychological resilience. As clients and clinicians alike learn to turn inward for rejuvenation and healing, these transformative practices can serve as tools to soothe anxiety, quiet the inner critic, and foster a sense of connection and belonging.

Learning Objectives for participating health care professionals-
At the end of the program you will better able to:

  • Describe how to use loving kindness to reduce anxiety;
  • Describe a way in which Compassion practice reduces stress;
  • Describe two resiliency practices;
  • Describe the effect of stress on the body;
  • Describe two techniques to reduce stress;
  • Describe a technique to work with eco-anxiety.
