Healing Our Way Home: Black Buddhist Teachings on Ancestors, Joy, and Liberation

Open to: Everyone

Description:
“We can’t be who we are without remembering who and where we come from. Mindfulness is about recognizing and being present with what’s in this moment, and since our ancestors are present in us in every moment, touching the present also means to touch our ancestors.” —Kaira Jewel Lingo

In this daylong retreat, we will ground our practice and teaching in the book Healing Our Way Home: Black Buddhist Teachings on Ancestors, Joy, and Liberation (2024), exploring how we can use our practice to connect with ancestors, deepen joy, and touch liberation. Through Dharma talks, mindful walking/moving, sitting/stationary meditation, singing, journaling, and sharing, our time together will be one of both individual and collective healing.

This daylong program is open to all practitioners. It is highly recommended that participants read the book before attending this program.

Online Only: We are offering this program online via Zoom.

Sliding Scale: Our sliding scale options for this program include financial support for our teachers. Please consider paying at the highest rate that you can afford: your generosity supports the teachers as well as Spirit Rock, staff, and your fellow practitioners.
