Description:
When faced with trauma or life stressors, our soft and tender heart gets hurt and closes to the beauty and love around us. We lose joy in the simple pleasures of life, instead indulging in binge-watching movies or doomscrolling social media to manage our angst. If we fully open to our wounds, maybe we will unearth the post-traumatic growth opportunities hidden within them. Using science-backed resiliency practices, we will reconnect with our own inner resources of strength, peace, and aliveness, which will enable us to face personal, global and environmental stressors with a balanced and grounded mind-heart.

As we learn to nurture ourselves with love and kindness, we may shift away from our habitual fight, flight, and freeze reactions and become our own best friend. This, in turn, makes us more present for our friends, family, and community with a greater sense of connection, ease, and belonging.

Online Only: We are offering this program online via Zoom.

Class dates are: February 20, February 27, March 6, March 13, March 20 and March 27; all classes are held on Thursday from 5:00pm – 6:30pm US Pacific Time.

Teachings are appropriate for health care professionals as well as the general public. This program offers tools to enhance emotional resilience and manage the stress and trauma healthcare providers often face in their work. By learning science-backed resiliency practices, healthcare providers can cultivate self-compassion and emotional balance, which helps them remain grounded and present for their patients and clients, even in high-stress environments. This program also teaches providers how to reconnect with their inner strength, promoting personal well-being and improving the quality of care they provide to others. Healthcare providers can integrate these resiliency practices into their work by sharing simple, science-backed techniques with clients, empowering them to manage stress, process trauma, and foster emotional balance in their own lives. By modeling these practices and guiding clients through them, providers can help create a healing environment that supports both physical and emotional well-being.

Learning Objectives for participating health care professionals-
At the end of the program you will be better able to:

  • Describe a practice to cultivate calmness and ease, reducing feelings of anxiety and overwhelm;
  • Describe the role of compassion in stress reduction, and how cultivating compassion for oneself and others can create a sense of inner peace and emotional balance;
  • Describe two scientifically-supported techniques to enhance mental and emotional resilience in the face of life’s challenges;
  • Explain how stress impacts the body’s systems, including the nervous, immune, and cardiovascular systems, and its long-term effects on health;
  • Describe two techniques to manage and reduce stress, promoting mental clarity and emotional stability;
  • Describe a mindfulness-based approach to working with eco-anxiety, fostering a sense of hope and grounded action in response to environmental concerns.
