Description:
There is a beautiful, oft-quoted teaching from the Buddha, recorded in The Dhammapada: “In this world, hate never yet dispelled hate. Only love dispels hate. This is the law, ancient and inexhaustible.”

This is a profound and powerful message: simple, familiar, and ever so relevant for our times. It is a sacred imperative wherein we’re entrusted to choose love over hate, compassion over hostility. We’re asked to open to the possibility of love as the ground of our intimate practice and the source and root of our engaged response out in the world.

In this half-day program, we will explore what it means to take refuge in love—to practice mettā (lovingkindness)—embracing the path of kindness amidst all that’s unfolding within and around us. Through Dharma talks, question and response, and practice, we will touch into what it means for us to embody the Buddha’s ancient and paramount teaching.

Online Only: We are offering this program online via Zoom.

Sliding Scale: Our sliding scale options for this program include financial support for our teachers. Please consider paying at the highest rate that you can afford: your generosity supports the teachers as well as Spirit Rock and your fellow practitioners who need to pay less.
