Introduction to the Five Precepts (BD1C23)
Bonnie Duran, MPH, DrPH
January 10 - February 7, 2023
Registration closes at 3:30 pm (US Pacific Time) just prior to the fifth class on February 7, 2023. A waiting list will be created if the program fills early. A recording* will be available following each class.
Description:
The Buddha taught the precepts as a basic framework for ethical behavior to be embodied by practitioners. They are commitments to abstain from harming living beings, stealing, sexual misconduct, lying, and intoxication. In this class series, we will explore these teachings in the context of living them in our everyday lives, and engage in inquiry as a community. Our time together will focus on understanding the precepts through reading, discussion, reflection, and journaling, supported by guided meditation. Although each class will build on the previous teachings, attendance at all sessions is not required, and audio recordings of all classes will be available.
Our sliding scale options for this program include financial support for our teachers.
All are welcome! No one will be turned away for lack of funds as space allows. For more information, please email Registration@spiritrock.org.
*Recording Note: If you would like access to the recording, you must register by the deadline above. You will have ~90 days from the original program date to view the recording of this program.
