Snow Raven

Born in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in Arctic Siberia, Snow Raven learned the traditional songs of her people from her grandmother at age three so she could participate in the Summer Solstice ceremony, Yhyakh. She has never stopped singing since.

An initiate in the shamanic lore of her homeland, Snow Raven fuses traditional Sakha sound with electronic expression—her voice and presence are true instruments of healing and wonder. She harnesses the magical tools of shamanism to mimic bird and animal sounds, using her body as an instrument.

Snow Raven, the originator of “arctic beatbox”—a technique that uses reindeer breath—has graced international stages including America’s Got Talent, Lightning in a Bottle, Lost Lands, Burning Man, Shambhala Music Festival, the Sundance Film Festival, TED, and the Bioneers ECOconference.

For those called to go deeper, Snow Raven offers online courses teaching the very vocal traditions and techniques she brings to the stage: breathing, Sakha language resonance, and nature sound practices passed down through generations. Learn more at snowraven.com
