Jeff Takeda

Jeff Takeda is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a current police officer with 23 years of experience. Jeff has held various positions, including patrol officer, field training officer, SWAT team member, and major crimes detective. Jeff’s current assignment is with his department’s mental health co-response unit, working in the field with clinicians, responding to mental health emergencies.

Jeff’s own personal journey with mindfulness, including several retreats at Spirit Rock, has been a driving force behind his mission to share its benefits with others, especially first responders and veterans. Jeff has undergone training as a mindfulness facilitator through the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center and is a member of the International Mindfulness Teachers Association.

Recognizing the importance of mindfulness in high-stress professions, Jeff co-founded a mindfulness program within his own police department. He also leads a weekly meditation program for Veterans and First Responders.
