Greg Dalton

Greg Dalton founded Climate One in 2007 after a life-changing journey to the Arctic aboard an icebreaker with scientists and journalists. As executive producer and co-host for nearly 20 years, he and the Climate One team built the premier platform for empowering conversations about all aspects of the climate emergency. Through his podcast, national radio show, and live convenings at the Commonwealth Club, the team creates opportunities for dialogue and inspires a more complete understanding of the current crisis. The Climate One podcast and weekly radio show is broadcast on KQED (Monday 10pm) and nearly 100 other NPR stations across the country, reaching 200,000 listeners a week. In 2015 Greg started exploring the intersection of climate and anxiety, remorse and mindfulness, with guests including Christiana Figueres, Mark Coleman, and Sister True Dedication. Over the years, he had the honor of interviewing Jane Goodall, Ai Weiwei, Graham Nash, Dolores Huerta, Jane Fonda, Cory Booker, Hillary Clinton, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and many other amazing climate leaders in all walks of life.

Prior to founding Climate One, Greg was a journalist for 12 years covering news in Beijing, Vancouver, New York, and San Francisco for the Associated Press, South China Morning Post, McNeil-Lehrer News Hour, and Industry Standard magazine.

Today Greg has stepped back from daily operations and handed the mic to a talented and younger team to carry on the empowering conversations. While he still does occasional interviews on the Climate One stage, he’s turning to mindfulness, the Dharma, and whitewater rafting as ways to foster deeper connections to nature and understanding of each other. He’s also trying to get his head and heart around climate action without being attached to outcomes.
