Father Adam Bucko

Adam Bucko is an Episcopal priest, spiritual director, activist, and interfaith pioneer. Born and raised in Poland under a totalitarian regime, his early exposure to spiritual activism greatly influenced his life trajectory. He is considered one of the leading voices in a movement for the renewal of Christian contemplation and new monasticism, and he has authored several books, including “Let Your Heartbreak be Your Guide: Lessons in Engaged Contemplation,” “Occupy Spirituality: A Radical Vision for a New Generation,” and “The New Monasticism: An Interspiritual Manifesto for Contemplative Living.” Adam has taught engaged contemplative spirituality in America, the West Indies, and Europe. His books and teachings often include collaborations with spiritual leaders and activists from different faith traditions, contributing to a movement for a world that works for all and not just some.

Additionally, Adam has been actively involved in the effort for justice and supporting young activists in various movements for social and ecological transformation. In 2004, he co-founded the Reciprocity Foundation, an award-winning organization that serves as a place of sanctuary for BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ young people who are homeless or housing insecure in New York City.

Currently, Adam serves as a director of The Center for Spiritual Imagination in New York, dedicated to democratizing the gifts of monastic spirituality and teaching contemplative spirituality in the context of hearing and responding to the cry of the poor and the cry of the earth.
