4-Day Non-Residential Retreat in the Community Meditation Center!

Suggested Prerequisite: Completion of a class or retreat in mindfulness and an ongoing meditation practice is highly recommended.

Description:
From the foundation of settling our minds and bodies, the first two days of this retreat will focus on the three main areas of practice for developing liberating insight: (1) impermanence (aniccā), (2) reactivity (dukkha) and (3) not-self (anatta). When we focus our meditation practice on cultivating this “seeing that frees,” as Rob Burbea has called it, we learn to notice more fully the impermanent flow of experience. We can also learn to observe the arising of reactivity and increasingly track when there is a “thick” sense of self in order to tune in to a more open and luminous awareness. This is the heart of Insight Meditation, both in formal meditation and in daily life. For the final days of retreat, we will continue these practices and turn toward this spacious awareness, which is a source of freedom, wisdom, and compassion.
